Homemade bone broth or chicken stock is nutritious and can be as easy as loading the crock pot or slow cooker with vegetable scraps (onion, celery, carrots, parsley), water, chicken bones (preferably from a whole chicken), and seasonings (I like a little rosemary and thyme). Cover with water and set on low overnight or while you are at work. When you wake up, strain, pour stock into jars to can or add to freezer safe containers. These oven baked donuts are both easy and delicious! Recipe credit: Sally’s Baking Addiction “Powdered Sugar Donut Holes” Ingredients 1/3 cup (5 Tablespoons; 72g) unsalted butter, softened 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar 1 large egg, at room temperature 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 and 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup (120ml) milk, at room temperature* Coating 3 Tablespoons (45g) unsalted butter 1 cup (120g) confectioners’ sugar Coating: melted butter and powdered sugar Combine wet and dry. Homemade animal crackers for Valentines Day This is a lower sugar cookie that closely resembles an animal cracker as it s not horribly sweet and has a fairly dry texture Perfect for rolling out and perfect for little snackers Ingredients * 9 tablespoons butter (at room temperature) * 1/4 cup granulated sugar * 2 tablespoons honey * 1 large egg * 1 teaspoons vanilla extract * 2 cup all-purpose flour or whole wheat (or combination) * 1 teaspoon baking powder * 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Cream together butter, sugar, honey and vanilla. Then add Egg. Incorporate dry ingredients slowly. Refrigerate dough in 3-4 small disks for at least an hour before working. Only take 1 disk out at a time to avoid warming before working. Add powdered sugar to work surface if sticking.
