Did you know? Yerba mate and guayusa are both grown in South America? Yerba mate has a culturally-significant past; it has been ritually shared for centuries, primarily in Brazil and Paraguay among the Tupí and Guarani tribes who pass the hot beverage around in a hollowed out gourd called a mate or cabaça, sipping the shared tea through a bombilla straw as a way to foster community. Guayusa, grown sustainably and organically in a chacra, or forest garden, is traditionally grown and imbibed by members of the Kichwa tribe of Ecuador. Our suppliers replenish these trees in order to ensure future growth and harvests.
