I’d been a stay-at-home mom for eight years when I decided it was time to transition back into work. My youngest, at the time, was starting Kindergarten and I wanted a job I could do from home. As a person who’s always loved fashion and shopping, I felt inspired to open my online boutique, Simply Sage Market, in 2013. “Sage” is derived from my daughter’s middle name and also means “wise,” which perfectly describes my shoppers. What started as a humble basement operation, with my kids helping me sort items, fold packing slips, and seal up shipping bags—soon blossomed into a warehouse full of employees. I’m grateful for the early days of my business and how it taught my children responsibility.
