About the product

What it is?

Crafted from the Karigane (stems and veins) of Gyokuro Superior tea leaves, our Gyokuro Karigane Superior is a rare tea. These stems only account for about 5% to 10% of all tea leaves, so only a limited amount of Gyokuro Karigane can be produced each year. Even in Kyoto, the center of Japanese green tea culture and production, it is difficult to find top-grade Gyokuro Karigane. Gyokuro itself has the most Niacin (vitamin B3) of any Japanese tea.

How to use

Tea Type	Gyokuro or Gyokuro Karigane
Tea Leaves	1 1/2 tablespoons (7 - 8g)
Water Temperature	140 - 158°F (60 - 70°C)
Amount of Water	200ml (7.04 fl oz)
Waiting Time	1 1/2 - 2 minutes

With all Japanese teas (Gyokuro, Sencha, Genmaicha, and Houjicha) except for Matcha, you can ingest large amounts of the beneficial constituents by brewing the same leaves 3 times. It is said that 30% to 50% of the constituents are extracted into water by brewing tea leaves 3 times.
