About SEKKIN
At SEKKIN, our mission is to bring people together through the art of cooking and the power of food. We believe that culinary experiences are at the heart of our lives, and we want to help shape those experiences. Our founder, Vanessa Hobeika, is the driving force behind SEKKIN. With a background as a former Google employee based in New York City, her journey has been deeply influenced by diverse cultures and her endless love for food. Originally from Lebanon, where food is a love language, Vanessa's fondest childhood memories often took place around the family dinner table. Vanessa recalls, "My grandpa used to walk 40 minutes every week to get me my favorite foods. That's where I learned the power of food in bringing people together." She always had a deep desire to share this love language with the world. Vanessa's travels took her to over 105 countries, where she discovered that food played a central role in people's lives and human connections worldwide. She realized that every extraordinary meal starts with an essential tool—the knife, and that the best tools for culinary excellence were Japanese knives, known for their precision, craftsmanship, and unmatched functionality. However, there was a challenge with Japanese knives – they are often crafted by hand in Japan, and are so expensive that they are inaccessible for most. Vanessa's revelation was to forge a path to culinary excellence that's accessible to everyone. And the inspiration to create SEKKIN was born. SEKKIN is not just a knife; it's a culinary companion for those who refuse to compromise on quality. And SEKKIN is for everyone, seasoned professionals and passionate home cooks alike. But what truly sets SEKKIN apart is the unbeatable value it offers. We've taken the intricate artistry of Japanese knives and made it accessible to all.
