Step 1
Prepare the surface by removing all surface contaminants and/or residues by washing or using a mild cleaner.
Step 2
If Necessary, use the 320 and 600 grit sanding discs to remove deep scratches, pitting, or more severe imperfections to the surface--such as heavy oxidation, chemical burns, or rust.
Step 3
Use the Double-stitched Red Airway Buffing Wheel along with the T121 Fast Cut Tripoli Polishing Compound to begin your "cut stage"-- aimed at removing sanding lines and surface oxidation. This step should be done at about 3,500-6,000RPM in most cases.
Step 4
The "color" stage of the polishing process (using this kit) will involve use of the Stitched Yellow Airway Buffing Wheel with the Q36 One-Step Compound bar at about 3,500 RPM.
Step 5
Use a UBM (Unbleached Muslin) Airway Buffing Wheel with our Competition Purple compound bar at about 1,800 RPMfor a final show-quality finish.
Pro tips
Use the EZ Red Sprayable Metal Polish to maintain your shine and to get rid of chemical residue, water spots, and very minor surface imperfections.
The included bottle of Dissolver Polishing Compound Remover is ideal for removing any excess and built up compound during the clean-up phase of your project. It'll also help with some stubborn organic compounds as well.
Rake your buffing wheel every few passes in order to clean it off and apply new compound.
When machine polishing, always use safety glasses and a respirator mask.
If you are new to machine polishing, be sure to use Safety Flanges.
