We don’t have to move to live in a better place. we can create it. By loosening zoning restrictions, parking minimum laws, and redesigning our streets, we can live in excitingly prosperous places.

When we want to make our cities a better place to live, it’s important we start with humbly observing where people in the community may struggle. What’s one of the best ways to do that? Take a walk. Walk where most people don’t, but some people have to. Start thinking: what’s the smallest next thing to make this place better, right now? And then keep repeating those steps: #1. Humbly observe where people in the community struggle. #2. Ask the question: What is the next smallest thing we can do right now to address that struggle? #3. Do that thing. Do it right now. #4. Repeat. • • • • • #suburbs #suburbanexperiment #walking #cityplanning #safestreets

Some places may look like they’re designed for people. But if people aren’t there on a continuous basis it’s an indicator something is missing. Perhaps the area lacks true usefulness or it’s a walkable space surrounded by a car-centric area (making it hard to get to). There are lots of reasons for why a people-centered place wouldn’t get used. What are some examples you’ve seen? • • • • • #peoplecentereddesign #safestreets #cityplanning

NIMBY or YIMBY, you can probably see that we’re in a housing crisis. So how do we get more housing WITHOUT gentrification? Enter: incremental development. Incremental development isn’t slow—it’s about making changes at the speed your local community needs. It's adaptable, scalable, and it’s change YOU can do. Share this with someone who wants to make their town a stronger one today. • • • • • #housing #affordablehousing #cityplanning #development

Our streets used to be not only places for travel- but places for community. Streets were once a connection between neighborhoods- supporting neighbors and local businesses- but now they split our communities, most of us not even knowing our neighbors. Check out our latest Youtube video to explore one option in how we can repair this “split.” #cities #cityplanning #urbanplanning #newvideo
