About Marc Ecko
Fashion designer Marc Ecko was born Marc Milecofsky in 1972 in New Jersey along with twin sister Marci. When their mother was pregnant, only Marci appeared on the ultrasound, and Marc appeared only as an echo, which later inspired the name Marc Ecko. Throughout his teenage years, Marc developed an interest for graffiti art, rap music and the hip-hop culture. Drawing on these inspirations, he used his parents' garage to set up a clothing design studio and showroom in the 1980s. After high school, Marc attended Rutgers School of Pharmacy and continued graffiti art on the side, using ""Ecko"" as his tag name. His twin sister and a friend invested funds to help him found Ecko Unlimited in 1993, and his T-shirt designs proved to be successful. He formed a licensing deal with the National Football League in 1999 and launched his own magazine, Complex, in 2002. A tailored clothing line, Marc Ecko Cut & Sew, was launched in 2004. With the success of his Ecko Unlimited clothing line, Marc Ecko released his first men's fragrance in 2009; Ecko by Marc Ecko blends citrusy accords with musky notes. He has since released additional men's fragrances that appeal to the same audience of young, trendy men that enjoy Ecko's clothing line. The spicy UNLTD and aquatic-scented Blue debuted in 2011, and UNLTD The Exhibit, a citrus blend, came in 2012.
