I use Martha Stewart’s black raspberry pruning method from her blog, however, she has an employee and I just have me so the short version is 1- wear eye protection- I’ve had a couple cornea injuries in my life, and I’m not messing around 2- black raspberry canes are thorny buggers, so definitely full arm and hand protection as well 3- sharp clean pruners are best 4- You don’t want canes that crossing or more than 5 per group, just keep thickest ones 5- everything else goes (thin suckers or last years canes (gray)) I use existing structures where I can so I am using my fence and adding structure with tree limbs I cut last year.
