An American Airlines regional jet flight collided with a military Blackhawk helicopter midair and plunged into the Potomac River. The collision took place in Washington DC near Reagan National Airport as the AA plane was preparing to land. In a statement on X, American Airlines says, "We're aware of reports that American Eagle flight 5342, operated by PSA, with service from Wichita, Kansas (ICT) to Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) has been involved in an incident. An accurate count of casualties has not been reported at this time but a search and rescue mission is underway in the Potomac River.
