The rock of Guatapé, or stone of the Peñol (Tahami language: Mojarrá), is a 220-meter-high monolith, located in the municipality of Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia. The stone of El Peñol is a granite mass, composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, it was first climbed on July 16, 1954 by an inhabitant of the area, Luis Eduardo Villegas López. Currently, its summit can be accessed by climbing the 708 steps built in the monolith.
